Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitar player and music artist. She was also the first and youngest woman to win the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young emerging superstar on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is both the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing around from London to New Delhi. When she was only 13 the first time she performed in New Delhi took place. After moving to Encinitas, California in 1999, she was awarded an honorary high school diploma. Anouskha, who is only 17 years old, has had a successful performing and recording career. Her father has been with her on numerous occasions for some time. In 1998, she released her first self-titled album Anourag. Two years later she released the Grammy nomination-winning Live on stage at Carnegie Hall. Her stage career is very vast as she has performed in most of the major stages in the world. Anoushka Shakar's career isn't only limited to music. She published Bapi The Heart of My Life, in the year 2002. It is a biographical work that is a tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in a number of films. In 2003, she was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she plays the role of a teenage Bharat Natyam dancer. The career of Anoushka Shankar is in the process of developing and she'll continue to accomplish many amazing things in the coming years. Anoushka Shakar, born in England was a major part of her life between London Delhi. After moving to California she completed her high school. From the age of nine she began studying music under her father making her performing debut on the sitar four years later at the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. The father of Anoushka travelled across the world with her and she was able to gain many new opportunities. As she was teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. Her artistry and musicianship were recognized by British Parliament as being among the top of the best in Asian Arts.
